Public warned to stay off oilwell sites

Maidstone RCMP are urging the public to stay away from oilwell sites.

On April 26th, police responded to a call about mischief at a well site near Hillmond. It was reported that it had been tampered with and that oil had spilled. There was evidence to suggest that an unknown group of people had used the well site as a party location.

RCMP would like to remind everyone that the well sites are private property and should not be accessed by the general public. There are significant dangers associated to working around well sites, abandoned or otherwise, such as hydrogen sulfide gas that can cause serious harm or death. If trespassers are found on a well sites, they can be charged.
