As the end of October approaches, organics collection will switch to every second week over the winter months.
The City of Lloydminster says during the colder months there is an 80 per cent decrease in organics disposal, making the transition practical and sustainable.
They are also reminding residents to make sure that approved items like fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, eggshells, yard trimmings and shredded paper, along with soiled paper, cardboard, and pizza boxes go into the organics bin.
More details on the schedule change which begins Oct. 30, and sorting organic waste are on the city’s website.
