Elk Point girl wins Alberta Great Kids Award

The province is celebrating youth across Alberta who inspire, change lives, and make Alberta a better place.

16 winners were selected for the Great Kids Award. From our area, 15-year-old Megan Phillips of Elk Point was a winner this year.

Megan’s biography says that she is dedicated and doing well in her studies, that she volunteers often, and inspires others to get involved. She voices her opinion on what is right and goes out of her way to interact with those who might not feel accepted.

Over the past 16 years, the Great Kids Award has been presented to 256 children between ages 5 and 18.

Winners were chosen by an awards selection committee of government and community representatives and event partners.

The Great Kids Award was first launched in 1999 to celebrate children and youth who positively impact their communities.
