More than half of Albertans surveyed recommended for further mental health support

Results are in from this year’s National Depression check in which was led by the Calgary Counselling Centre in early October. It shows 58 per cent of Albertans who checked in via the online survey were “recommended or highly recommended for further evaluation.”

More than 6,000 people participated with 73 per cent being from Alberta. Officials note that the age group 18-29, along with half of those who identified as being in the workforce had the “highest distress scores” and were candidates for “further mental health assessment and support.”

The online tool was developed by Harvard’s Department of Psychiatry and used by Calgary Counselling Centre from Oct. 2-8.
