Remembrance Day observances in Lloydminster

With Remembrance Day coming up on Nov. 11, local groups will gather firstly on Saturday, Nov. 4 for the No Stone Left Alone ceremony at the Lloydminster Cemetery.

More than 100 youth from Ecole St Thomas, Lloydminster Girl Guides, and the 186th Air Cadets will be involved.

Listed to bring greetings are MP Rosemarie Falk, MLA Colleen Young, and the City of Lloydminster. The event will be punctuated with readings and music associated with Remembrance Day. After the ceremony, the youth and dignitaries will be laying poppies on the headstones of 426 veterans who are laid to rest there.

The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. and is open to everyone.

Already underway are the sales of poppies at locations across the city with proceeds going to the Lloydminster Legion. Lloydminster & District Co-op is also selling poppy donuts with part proceeds going to the local legion.

On Nov. 11, Remembrance Day, local groups, civic leaders, and the community will gather at the Lloydminster Comprehensive High School gym for the ceremony led by the Lloydminster Legion at which a moment’s silence will be observed at 11:11 a.m. Organizers ask that attendees arrive at 10:30 a.m.
