Think Turkey is serving up the first-ever Wishbone Awards to salute the unsung heroes at local food banks and kitchens who pitch in so that Canadians don’t go with food.
The group says they will recognize eight-holiday heroes with a Wishbone Award and a $2,500 grant to help fund their community efforts. Also, their story will be shared nationally.
A recent report from Food Banks Canada points out that nearly 20 per cent of Canadians are living with food insecurity at a time when inflated prices are at a 30-year high and families need food bank support even more.
Residents in Lloydminster and area can nominate anyone by using the link ThinkTurkey.ca/Wishbone from Nov. 2-15 and share their story.
