Whether or not it’s a record number of shots in a sudden death shoot-out for the AJHL is yet to be confirmed, but 17 Lloydminster Bobcats shots had to be placed on the Grande Prairie Storm’s net-minder before getting the winner on Saturday night in Grande Prairie.
The score finished 4-3 for the Cats with GM Nigel Dube saying it’s very impressive to go through 17-shots in a shoot-out.
“There’s not a lot of history in the league as far as shoot-outs since it has only been going for the last couple of years, but anytime you can have a shooter that goes first in the shoot-out and then have to go a second time, I think at that point, it’s probably the funnest game for the fans that they could ask for.”
The Bobcats will faceoff against Bonnyville on Wednesday night, making seven games on the road ahead of coming back to home ice for a pair against Okotoks on Saturday and Sunday.
Following the Sunday match-up, the home team will host Skate with the Bobcats from about 4:45 p.m. Hotdogs are priced at two-dollars for that event.
The past weekend’s efforts yielded two wins on the three-game roadie, with the Bobcats taking the win on Saturday against the Storm, and Sunday against the Wolverines, after being bettered 1-3 by the Storm on Friday night.
