Noodle House wins $5,000 marketing campaign prize

A downtown business marketing contest has been snapped up by East Market Noodle House to the tune of $5,000 in promotions from Red Bicycle Communications.

The adjudicators, Red Bicycle Communications, the City of Lloydminster, and the Downtown Area Redevelopment Committee (DARC) made their choice from some 20 downtown businesses that were nominated.

Matt Vilaykham, owner of East Market Noodle House is expressing his excitement for the vote of confidence in his 10-year-old Vietnamese-styled restaurant.

“I was nominated by the people in Lloydminster and it’s such an honour. First off to be nominated – that people think about me, and then to win the contest.”

Vilaykham is thankful to the organizers for putting the promotion together and they will be working out with Red Bicycle the next steps in their marketing strategy going forward.

The restauranteur had moved away to Calgary and then returned and set up the business in 2013, just before the economic downturn. Having come through those times, he feels the challenge facing downtown would be to have more businesses and attract people downtown.

“If there are more businesses downtown, it will attract people to the sector. You don’t need many. You don’t need a vast city to bring life into the downtown sector,” says Vilaykham.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
