Come spring 2024, the City of Lloydminster will be trimming and pruning the leaves as its downtown upgrade sprouts forth from what was once bare pavement.
City officials say in keeping with the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP), the completion of this year’s work means wider sidewalks and modern crosswalks for pedestrians, and business frontage.
They add residents can look forward to more trees, planter beds, and public seating for a more inviting atmosphere.
The completion of phase one has also brought in more lighting in the downtown core and officials note the extra lighting fosters improved safety.
The downtown upgrade also tackled underground utility installations within 50 Avenue and 50 Street including the sanitary sewer main.
