James Thorsteinson is stepping away from a contest with incumbent Colleen Young and entering the Saskatchewan 2024 elections as the possible representative for Cutknife-Turtleford.
The cattleman was set to contest the vote in the Lloydminster riding against MLA Young to get the local nod from the party, but recent events with the sitting MLA for Cutknife-Turtleford have created another avenue for the former party local and provincial president to get a clear shot at the Legislature in Regina.
Thorsteinson will not be going head-to-head with Young at the Nov. 30 party meeting in Paradise Hill and that means Young is now acclaimed as the Lloydminster riding’s candidate for the Oct. 28, 2024, Saskatchewan elections.
Thorsteinson will now seek the nomination from the SaskParty members in Cutknife-Turtleford to become its candidate for the provincial elections.
