City advises on winter prep and parking ban

Old Man Winter may have taken his time to bring the first significant snow event this season, but given the Wednesday overnight forecast, the City of Lloydminster is sharing its readiness.

Environment Canada is calling for periods of rain changing to snow this evening.

About five centimetres of snow is in the forecast along with 20 km/h winds from the northwest which the city says may affect visibility issues.

It’s reminding motorists to drive to conditions and allow ample time for travel.

Also, the city will be rolling out a parking ban during winter maintenance operations, as required, Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Details of this will be on the city’s website and will be relayed on our station when advised by city staff.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
