Traffic lights are now up and running at 50 Avenue/Hwy 17 North and 67 Street, which is the intersection with Diamond Seven Meats in Lloydminster.
City of Lloydminster officials say the upgrade at the intersection includes new turning lanes to improve safety.
The improvements also come with changes to the speed limits along Highway 17 leading up to the new traffic signals.
Going north drops to 60 km/h from 70 km/h, and driving south to the city, the speed limit eases from 100 km/h to 80 to 60 as motorists enter city limits.
The city advises motorists to allow more time for travel to familiarize themselves with the new configuration and to follow the marked signage and pavement markings.
