A former Lloydminster Public School Division, LPSD staff member has been charged by RCMP after the division noted an imbalance during a 2023 financial review.
As a result of the RCMP investigation, Kimberly Bennett, 39 years of Lloydminster is facing a charge of theft over $5,000.
Bennett was released and is to return to the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on Feb. 5.
The LPSD fired the suspect after it was discovered that funds had gone missing.
“Earlier this year, it was discovered that a deposit was missing. The employee has been terminated and the case was referred to the RCMP, where charges have been laid. As this issue is currently before the courts, LPSD will have no further comments on this matter,” Jason Neville, LPSD Director of Education said in a statement.
