Second woman inducted into Lloyd Ex Ag Hall of Fame

The opening night banquet for this year’s Agrivisions saw only the second woman to be inducted into the Ag Hall of Fame at the Lloydminster Exhibition.

Jean Wobeser and her husband Dennis came to Lloydminster in 1961. Their connection with the Fox family and Harold and Margaret Weaver went hand in hand with getting involved in the Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association.

Jean was the first female president of the Lloyd Ag Ex from 1994 – 1995. Along with the various ag and trade shows and 4H activities, her contributions included the Lloyd Ex Fair, especially the equine events. She was a co-founder of the Lloydminster Kennel and Obedience Club which has hosted the fall dog show for over 35 years.

Jean and Dennis started Hi-Gain Feedlot just west of Lloydminster near Blackfoot and in the 80s pursued Holistic Management. The couple have three children and several grandchildren. Jean still loves life on the acreage with her dogs.

As Agrivisions wrapped up this week in Lloydminster, organizers thanked all attendees and volunteers and acknowledged the list of speakers and breakout session presenters. The tradeshow aspect this year featured over 240 exhibitors.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
