New penalties for stunting and street racing in Saskatchewan

Starting May 1, Saskatchewan drivers will lose their driver’s licence for a week and their vehicle for a month for high speeds, street racing, and stunts.

The new penalties for these infractions, including exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h or double the posted limit will be a 30-day vehicle impoundment and immediate seven-day licence suspension. This will be in addition to the increased fines imposed for stunting and street racing in 2022. Those start at $580 for a first offence.

Drivers who receive multiple traffic convictions also face potential further sanctions under SGI’s Driver Improvement Program.

Changes to legislation are effective as of March 1 and enforcement will begin on May 1 as shown in the table below.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
