Northwest teachers sign local agreement with Northwest School Division

A local agreement has been signed between the North West Teachers’ Association and the Northwest School Division (NWSD) covering local matters until 2026. It is not part of the current STF and Government Trustee Bargaining Committee negotiations.

The NWSD covers areas east of Lloydminster like St. Walburg, Maidstone, Glaslyn, and Neilburg.

Highlights of the Local Implementation Negotiation Committee or LINC agreement are:

  • Extra-curricular hours for Earned Days Off (EDOs) – If teachers contribute 70 hours they earn 1 day, 140 hours for 2 days, and 210 hours for 3 days. 35 hours a year can be carried over.
  • Pay for substitute teachers (per day) increasing over the next three years; Year 1 – $280, Year 2 – $285, Year 3 – $290
  • Teacher’s preparation time is also outlined in the agreement

More details on the agreement may be found on the NWSD website.

Officials see the “renewed partnership” as strengthening “their commitment to supporting teachers across the school division.”
