Connect for Food in Vermilion, Apr. 15

Delving deeper into the local food story will be one aspect of the menu as participants meet in Vermilion to talk, exchange, and showcase their productive efforts in support of the local economy and food industry.

Keleigh Cormier with Connect for Food is one of the organizers of a one-day symposium at the Vermilion Regional Centre on April 15.

“In this region, we have a lot of growers, farmers’ markets, and consumers – we really seem to be disconnected. That’s what we found through our (previous) workshops,” says Cormier.

The event is with support from Prairies Economic Development Canada, via Community Futures.

Conversations will look at challenges and gaps along with the opportunities in the food system, adds Cormier.

“That’s been the whole focus of this connect for food process. It’s bringing people together to talk about opportunities around our food system,” says Cormier.

The day begins just before 8 a.m. with the local showcase, breakfast, morning sessions from 9 a.m., lunch at noon will feature a menu sourced from local ingredients, and then afternoon workshops, wrapping up at 4 p.m.

More details are available on the Connect for Food website and social media.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
