Garrison Wainwright is planning prescribed burns at the Training Range in Wainwright from April 2 – May 2, once weather and other factors are conducive.
The Third Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton Detachment Wainwright will lead the effort.
Residents in the area may see smoke because of the prescribed burns. However, if there are any fires outside of the Garrison Wainwright perimeter, officials ask that these be reported to local authorities by calling 911.
Local stakeholders were notified of the controlled burn, which has not started yet given the weather forecast.
