While officials are unable to put an exact start date on construction, the design phase is done for the Lloydminster renal dialysis unit and construction is carded for later this year.
The Alberta Health Services and Saskatchewan Health Authority project will see renal dialysis services moving from Lloydminster Hospital to the Community Services Building at 3830 43 Avenue, just next to the hospital.
The unit will have six stations when it opens with the potential to expand to up to nine stations as future patient needs arise. Five stations are currently operating at the hospital.
The dialysis project has received $4.25 million in funding from the Alberta government’s Rural Health Facilities Revitalization Program.
