Household Recycling Roundup, May 4, Pitch In Week, April 29 – May 5

If you haven’t been keeping track of your household hazardous waste, it’s now time to get it ready for May 4.

The Household Recycling Roundup and Pitch In Week is coming up from April 29 – May 5.

Lloydminster, Britannia, Lashburn, and surrounding communities will be able to come to the Lloyd Ex from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 4 to bring in household quantities of hazardous waste for recycling courtesy of Alberta Recycling Management Authority. Residents are asked to separate materials and keep leaky items in leak-proof bags or containers.

The list includes:

Aerosols cans
Antifreeze
Batteries (wet and dry)
Cellphones
Cleaning products and solvents
Drugs and pills
Fertilizers
Laptops and notebooks
Medications
Metal
Monitors and printers
Paint (5 pails – 1 gallon only)
Pesticides and weed killers
Propane tanks
Sharps (in a puncture-proof container)
Tires (regular size only)
Toxic products
TVs
Used oils
Use oil filters
Various household electronics

If you need free pick-up, please call 639-840-3993 before 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

The big cleanup is part of the wider effort of Mary Brown’s Pitch In Week where the community is invited to clean up after winter by picking up litter and cleaning your yard, driveway, and sidewalks to enhance the community.

The city will make free Pitch-In Kits available that include:
Safety Orientation / Sharps Protocol
Garbage bags
Nitrile gloves
Sharps kit (A non-puncture container and tongs)
Colouring pages for kids

Residents pitching in are reminded to practise safety.
