Lloydminster students strut their skills at regional contest

Some Lloydminster students are returning with precious metal from the regional skills contest in Vermilion, and are bound for the provincial platform from May 8-9.

At Holy Rosary High School, the winners bringing home the glitz, snapped up seven gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. They are:

  • Gold – Brady Hill – Carpentry
  • Silver- Ethan Flasch – Carpentry
  • Gold – Ciara Robinson – Baking
  • Bronze – August Feser – Baking
  • Gold – Aleshia Rieland- Hairstyling intermediate
  • Gold- Michael Malone- Culinary
  • Silver – John Martin – Culinary
  • Bronze- Maron Lacson- Culinary
  • Gold – Davin Bajema – Video Production
  • Gold- Zaner Ens – Video Production
  • Bronze- Kendra Lamonth – Video Production
  • Bronze- Esther Omorodion- Video Production
  • Gold – Aleshia Rieland- Hairstyling Intermediate
  • Bronze – Princess Angela Depaculang – Hairstyling
  • Gold – Marleigh Mann – Welding

The gold and silver winners will be heading to the provincial battle of the Skills Canada contest.

At Lloydminster Comprehensive High School, the medal count is one gold, six silver, and two bronze for:

  • Connor Stephens – Auto Tech – silver -Provincial Qualifier
  • Jayden Wood – Electrical Installation – gold – Provincial Qualifier
  • Mark Baldwin – Electrical Installation – silver – Provincial Qualifier
  • Callie Lan – Electrical Installation – bronze – Pre-qualified for provincials
  • Samantha Lothrop – Cabinet Making – bronze
  • Mariya Marynin – Baking – silver – Provincial Qualifier
  • Carina Lorenzana and Jordyn Fash – Video Production – silver – Provincial Qualifiers
  • Sophie Graham – Hairstyling Junior – silver – Provincial Qualifier
  • Mila Jubinville – Hairstyling Intermediate – silver – Provincial Qualifier

Some students have already pre-qualified for provincials including:

  • Ben Vineham – Joinery
  • Princess Dabu – IT Office Software Applications Level 1
  • Aashna Patel – IT Office Software Applications Level 2
  • Melissa Rangel and Josh More – Mechanical CADD
  • Shaylee Lett – Workplace Safety
  • Kyle Bosch and Kaiden Protz – Precision Machining

The provincial contest will be at the Edmonton Expo Centre, with the chance for those winners to be on Team Alberta at the national skills contest.
