Emergency alert tests, Wednesday May 8

Testing of the provincial emergency alert systems in Alberta and Saskatchewan will occur on Wednesday, May 8 at 11:55 a.m. M.S.T.

The test happens twice a year and this one coincides with Emergency Preparedness Week, being observed, May 5-11.

In Lloydminster, the city notes that Health and Safety Week, Mental Health Week, and Emergency Preparedness Week take place during May, and it will be having updates on an ongoing basis.

During this week, emergency management staff in both provinces will be posting safety information on social media. The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) will be posting resources and templates on its Facebook account, and additional resources can be found on the agency’s website. Also, the Alberta Emergency Management Agency will have similar updates on its social media and website.

Overall, residents are advised to be prepared by knowing the risks, making a plan, putting together an emergency kit with supplies for you and your pets, staying connected with people, and using provincial apps like SaskAlert and Alberta Emergency Alert.
