Another tentative deal is in the works between the Saskatchewan government and the teachers’ union.
The teachers’ union is endorsing the deal and members will get to hear the details in virtual meetings planned for May 21-22.
On Friday, May 17, both sides spoke of the deal after returning to the bargaining table on Wednesday, May 15.
The province says the tentative agreement covers “key matters” and reflects “the collaborative efforts of both parties to address the needs of students, families, and teachers across Saskatchewan.”
Full details will be documented, and teachers will vote on May 29 and 30, whether to agree or not. The previous proposal was voted down by 90 per cent of teachers.
Meanwhile, teachers have voted to renew job action until an agreement is in place.
Some 13,000 teachers represented by the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation have been without a contract since last August.
