A four-decade tradition will be served up once again on Saturday, May 25 when Lobsterfest cooks off at the Lloydminster Exhibition.
The Rotary Club of Lloydminster brings in the lobster from the East Coast the day before the event and will cook the main dish in a boiler tank that fits about 100 crustaceans at once.
Mike Sidoryk, president of the service group says over the years, the money raised gets shared among local community causes.
“We have helped the Men’s Shelter, the Lloydminster Youth Centre, Interval Home, KidSport, ALS, Sexual Assault Centre – just to name a few.”
One of the big legacy-funded items has been the Rotary’s contribution to the STARS helicopter pad at the Lloydminster Hospital, notes Sidoryk. Also, the global effort of the Rotary Club supports causes like the eradication of diseases like polio.
The pay-it-forward festivity will see partygoers enjoy a steak-option cooked on a charcoal grill and dance the night away with Edmonton-based Dahlia and the Villans.
The band brings a mix of country, rock, and the classics with lead vocals from Lloydminster-raised, Dahlia Wakefield.
Tickets are priced at $100.00 and are available from the Rotary Club of Lloydminster.
