Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation shares details on proposed agreement

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation, STF is sharing details of the proposed bargaining agreement with its employer.

Following two-days of virtual meetings with the province’s 13,000 teachers, the union is making public that the three-year deal has an extra $18 million for classroom complexity issues and an accountability framework will be signed by the STF, government and the Saskatchewan School Boards Association and attached to the Collective Bargaining Agreement as a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Also, a ministerial task force will be established on Classroom Complexity. It will be made up of teachers, students and parents. The STF sees this is giving stakeholders including students “a voice on their experiences with the underfunding of public schools and to share the challenges of classroom complexity.”

A report will be presented to the minister following the deliberations of the task force.

Teachers’ salaries will be increased by eight per cent over the next three years with retroactive pay to September last year.

STF members will vote on May 29 and 30 and the results of the ratification vote will be posted on the evening of May 30.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
