Fifteen Holy Rosary High School student-athletes are signing up for post-secondary studies at various universities and colleges starting this fall.
Graduates like Norah Matthews are blazing a trail in their chosen sport and the four-year program ahead.
Matthews is heading to the University of Saskatchewan to play volleyball and study Kinesiology.
“I’m excited to meet lots of new people. I know a lot of my teammates because I actually play for Huskie Volleyball Club in Saskatoon. I know the coach. I’m excited to learn some new things in school, make some new friends, and live away from home.”
The middle-blocker likes to play on the right side of the court but feels for the next few years she might be playing in the middle.
Another grad is moving on to Edmonton’s King’s University to play basketball and study Commerce. Eli Columbine whose name is etched next to number one on the school’s gym wall favours playing point guard on the court. He says he is familiar with the TKU Eagles setup and knows a few people at the school.
“There’s another kid from this graduating class – he’s going to King’s for volleyball. And then, I know some kids who are going there and some people that are already there. So, it will be a nice community of people there.”
