McDavid-themed art being auctioned as LPSD Art Academy shows off its work

Another year is wrapping for the Lloydminster Public School Division, LPSD Art Academy, and students have hockey-themed memorabilia to add to the fundraising for next year.

Resident artist, Brandi Hofer says the students did some group projects and people can bid online until Monday, June 17 for the painting, with the bid currently at $700.00.

parents, students, and the community to savour. A 10-foot collage filled one wall at College Park School along with numerous paintings that reflected the pride of the young artists.

“Some made art to wear, ceramics, poetry, performance pieces – it was very inspiring to see them so excited about showcasing their skills,” says Hofer.

Ava Laboucane says she has signed up for next year. The 10-year-old adds she “likes creating new things, that she has never painted and learning new things.”

Jake Kappel created a space piece with spray paint, a tiger using cardboard, and a self-portrait. The first-year Art Academy student said he liked being involved.

“I enjoy doing art. I like filling up my free time with drawing and colouring,” says Kappel.

Hofer sees the program as being a safe place, instilling confidence and allowing the students to fully express who they are.
