Heat warning in effect for Lloydminster

A heat warning has been issued for Lloydminster and the midwest region by Environment Canada.

Scorching temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees Celsius and overnight lows of 14 degrees Celsius or greater are expected until at least midweek.

Daytime highs will be near 30 degrees today, and will gradually increase to near 35 degrees Celsius by Wednesday for many regions of Alberta. Overnight lows in the mid-teens will not provide much relief from the heat.

– Consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day.
– Take frequent breaks from the heat, spending time in cooled indoor spaces where possible.
– Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated.
– Check for your children or pets before you exit your vehicle. Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
