Saskatchewan is getting a new pediatric gastroenterologist. Dr. Rabin Persad, who will take up duties in Saskatchewan on October 1, has practiced at the Stollery Children’s Hospital since 2006.
Dr. Persad is an associate professor of gastroenterology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. He completed his pediatric residency in Winnipeg and his fellowship in Vancouver.
Gastroenterology deals with the organs in the digestive system, including the GI tract (esophagus, stomach, and intestines) and biliary organs like the liver, bile ducts, pancreas, and gallbladder.
Health officials say the new hire will support the expansion of the child and youth gastroenterology program in the province.
