Regional fire crews answer call to help Jasper

Regional fire crews are answering the call to aid in the firefighting efforts in the Town of Jasper.

With less than 2 hours’ notice on July 24th, the County of Vermilion River shared they are assisting Alberta Wildfire in protecting the mountain town.

An engine from Paradise Valley with a crew of firefighters from across the County Fire Service, made it to Hinton by midnight, on July 25th.

Irma Fire Rescue shared that they deployed an engine, crew, and command unit from Wainwright Fire Rescue to assist in Jasper.

The Vegreville Fire Department sent Senior Firefighter, Brandon Metchooyeah and Firefighter Cody Yaxley, along with two members from Minburn County. These firefighters provided prompt assistance upon their arrival in Jasper.

Joining them in the efforts include staff and students of Lakeland College’s Emergency Training Centre.

Members from the Canadian Armed Forces in our area also left to help in the fight.

We thank the many members of these firefighting teams who left their homes, to help and use their skills in Jasper.
