With Saskatchewan voters, due to go to the polls on Oct. 28, the writ or written order is expected to drop in about a month between Sep. 27- Oct. 2 signalling the start of the electoral season.
As of Aug. 12, there are over 50 people listed as potential candidates from the Saskatchewan Party, NDP, the Greens, Buffalo Party, and United Party on the Elections Saskatchewan website. There are 61 ridings including eight new ridings and 31 seats are required to form the next provincial government.
As of Aug. 22, the website 338Canada data shows the Saskatchewan Party at 48 per cent and the NDP at 42 per cent. However, the website modelling points to the Saskatchewan Party forming government at a 98 per cent probability. The website also lists about 20 ridings in areas around Saskatoon and Regina as marginal seats.
Angus Reid polls point to a gap of seven per cent between the Saskatchewan Party (49 per cent) and the NDP (42 per cent) in what it calls the smallest lead since the 2020 vote.
