Seven Brittania-Wilton Firefighters are now professionally certified. Many of the members at the volunteer fire department took a course for their International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Certification, also called a Red Seal. The qualification allows the firefighters to work at any professional fire department worldwide. Brittania-Wilton Fire Captain Aaron Buckingham says that even though the department is composed of volunteers, it was still an important certification for the hall’s members to get. The course took the firefighters a couple of years to complete, because they were doing it in their spare time.
