Sober September is kicking off with the annual request to look at lifestyle choices, give up vices, and fundraise for the Thorpe Recovery Centre, TRC.
“Sober September brings awareness to talk about mental health and addiction openly,” says Carrie Bennett, public relations assistant at Thorpe Recovery Centre. “By supporting Sober September, you’re contributing to Thorpe, which allows us better to support our clients on a more individual basis.”
Organizers see the community challenge as an effort to reset, reflect, and challenge yourself, whether it’s giving up alcohol, sweets, or social media.
The process will see participants accepting the mission to give up a vice for September and turn that effort into fundraising. People may sign up as individuals, businesses, or teams at ThorpeRecoveryCentre.org/event.
With September being Addictions Awareness Month, TRC is kicking off its campaign with the 90s theme, “Getting Jiggy with Sobriety.”
The fundraiser officially runs from Sep. 1-30.
