The Lloydminster Comprehensive Barons football team is ready to rumble for the 2024-25 school year with a schedule of home and away games in the Northern Saskatchewan Football League.
“We have over 20 grade 12 players. We expect that their football experience will be an asset this year. Our emphasis is on getting better every day and ensuring that we align correctly, do our assignment, and execute when the time comes,” says football coach, Kieran Link.
The team lineup will include the likes of Julian Tepper who had a sack in this year’s CFC prospects game in Ottawa. The six-foot-two, 230-pound defensive end has been training hard in the off-season to lead the Barons.
The schedule includes:
- Aug. 30 – Cold Lake Royals (away) – 6 p.m.
- Sep. 6 – Holy Rosary Raiders (away) – 6 p.m. – Exhibition game
- Sep. 13 – Martensville Royals (away) – 4 p.m.
- Sep. 30 – Bethlehem Stars (home) – 6 p.m.
- Sep. 26 – North Battleford Vikings (away) – 6:30 p.m.
- Oct. 4Â – Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders (home) – 6:30 p.m.
- Oct. 10 – Prince Albert St. Mary Marauders (home) – 4 p.m.
Lloyd Comp is introducing its Junior Barons program this year and is in the final stage of setting the schedule.
“The addition of the junior program will allow for more of our players to develop. The focus is on developing skills while fostering a love for football,” says Link.
The junior outfit will play in the Saskatoon Kinsmen League.
