Police issue caution to parents after child is approached by adult male at Sandy Beach

Parents are being encouraged to chat with their children to let them know they do not have to speak with strangers and if they are approached by a stranger, they can leave immediately and tell a trusted adult.

This advice comes from Maidstone RCMP as officers seek a male suspect who approached and was speaking with a young child at a playground at Sandy Beach Regional Park.

Police say the child did not know the individual, who later ran away after they were approached by the child’s parent.

The adult male is described as Caucasian, about six feet tall, 180-200 pounds with short brown hair. He was wearing navy-coloured running shoes with blue shorts, a grey t-shirt, sunglasses, and a hat. He was also carrying a beach mat.

If you have information about this incident and/or the individual described above, please contact Maidstone RCMP at 306-893-4800 or call 310-RCMP.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
