A suspect on orders to not be near a playground faces fresh charges filed by RCMP and is to wear an ankle bracelet.
Following an investigation, Sir Brent Habetler of Radisson was arrested at a residence on October 16.
The Maidstone RCMP investigation led them to first identify the adult male who approached and spoke to a young child at a playground at Sandy Beach Regional Park on August 27.
Following Habetler’s arrest on Oct. 16, police seized three loaded, unsecured firearms during a search warrant executed at the home.
Forty-seven-year-old, Sir Brent Habetler was charged with:
- One count, disobeying an order of court
- One count, unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Three counts, unsafe storage of a firearm
- One count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- One count, possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized
He was remanded into custody and appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on October 22, 2024.
He was released on conditions that include the following, among others:
- Staying inside his approved residence 24-hours a day. This condition will be electronically monitored as per his conditions.
- Not attend any area where children (below the age of 16) are typically present for the purposes of school or recreation.
- Not possess any firearms
He is to return to North Battleford Provincial Court on November 26, 2024.
