Bonnyville suspect facing fresh charges in Wainwright involving youth

A former Bonnyville teacher who is facing charges for inappropriate contact with a child is now on new charges for child luring in Wainwright.

On Saturday, Oct. 26 at about 2 p.m., Wainwright RCMP received a report from a concerned family member of a youth. The youngster had been speaking to a woman on an app, who was attempting to lure the youth and his friends to her hotel room.

Upon investigation, Wainwright RCMP arrested and charged Janelle Maisie Arnold, a 35-year-old resident of Bonnyville with:

  • Invitation to sexual touching
  • Child luring
  • Failure to comply with a release order

Janelle Maisie Arnold was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody. She is to return to the Alberta Court of Justice in Wainwright on Nov. 7, 2024.

In September, Arnold was charged in Bonnyville and released on conditions. That matter involves a former student from Duclos School where Arnold was a teacher for two years. Bonnyville RCMP, in offering victims’ services support, says you may call 780-343-7200.
