Upper floor of Lloyminster Curling Centre closed again for asbestos test

Asbestos testing is once again underway at the Lloydminster Curling Centre, and the upper floor is temporarily closed, says the City of Lloydminster.

However, the public will still have access to the lower level, including the curling rink, viewing areas, racquetball courts, and changing rooms.

The closure impacts the Green Glacier restaurant, administrative offices, and storage areas.

Recent surface testing revealed slightly elevated asbestos readings in a mechanical room on the upper floor.

The temporary closure is a precautionary measure and remains in effect until further notice.

The City notes that more tests will be done in the coming days.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
