The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is responding to a query about the lack of staff on weekends for the CT scan machine at the Lloydminster Hospital.
This after a Lloydminster man was sent to North Battleford on two occasions in November as there was not a medical radiation technologist (MRT) at the hospital.
The SHA which has been advertising the post since August, says, “Recruitment in this field is challenging.”
“As a result, for December, CT services are only available in Lloydminster Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.,” says James Winkel, media relations.
MyLloydminsterNow has followed up by noting that the patient was sent to North Battleford on Nov. 24 and Nov. 29, and for the SHA to please explain the reason that the patient was not able to get a CT scan as the policy covers December.
Maintaining its commitment to provide “safe, accessible, high-quality care to the people of Lloydminster and surrounding area,” Winkel says, “Temporary measures to improve CT access are being explored” and “the return of permanent staff members to Lloydminster in January will also help stabilize CT service in early 2025.”
