A combined team of law personnel from Alberta and Saskatchewan have arrested a suspect whom they describe as “a well-known and wanted drug dealer in Lloydminster.”
Police seized a prohibited firearm and drugs.
ALERT Lloydminster’s organized crime team partnered with RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT) and Lloydminster RCMP to make the arrest and seizure on January 2.
Police searched a Lloydminster apartment and seized:
- A sawed-off shotgun
- Various rounds of ammunition
- 80 grams of methamphetamine
- 8 grams of cocaine
- 5 grams of fentanyl
Lance Harper, a 41-year-old Lloydminster resident has been charged and remains in custody. At the time of his arrest, he was wanted on outstanding warrants for assault and had a significant history of drug-related offences.
“We have an established intelligence sharing model between agencies, between the provinces, which has proven effective in targeting those who endanger community safety through their criminal activities,” said Sgt. Bruce MacLean, ALERT Lloydminster.
Charges against the suspect include:
- Possession of drugs for trafficking
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon while prohibited
- Failure to comply with a release order
Harper is to return to Lloydminster, Alberta court on Monday, January 13.
