It’s a must-see event and an instant calendar add for your summer plans. Crash for Cash in Slave Lake, Alberta returns for its second year.
In the early 2000’s, this was a global event, garnering driver interest internationally and cementing Canada as a go-to destination for demolition derby action with major cash prizes. After more than two decades of time off, the event returned last year with great success
Led by Gunner and Brian Persson, along with hundreds of volunteers, Crash for Cash has quickly cemented itself as premiere demolition derby within Canada, in only it’s second year back on the circuit.
But it’s not just on that radar for drivers in our country. Crash For Cash is once again being globally recognized with some of the best drivers from New Zealand, Australia, England and the United States all representing this year as well.
The GOAT’s Evan Degenhardt caught up with a few of those drivers to talk about the upcoming event:
With over 120 drivers expected, Crash for Cash 2025 is already anticipating an uptick in attendance and recognition within the demolition world says organizer Brian Persson.
“We are bringing back the original demolition derby from years ago in this area and getting high praise from around the world. It’s really exciting for our town of Slave Lake to be on the derby map again in a big way. We have the absolute best teams in technical, officiating and inspection. We’re all proud to put in the work and showcase our passion to the world.”
Last year’s winner took home $20,000 in prize money. This year, the top prize has been upgraded to $60,000, with weekly lead-up prizes also available to drivers who pre-register with the event early.
