The fifth annual Scott MacDonald Memorial Fundraiser is set to go on Saturday in Bonnyville. The event is a fundraiser for cancer, and will consist of three football games at Walsh Field between Bonnyville teams and teams from Lloydminster and Cold Lake. There will also be a silent auction, two teams having their heads shaved, and a 50/50 draw. The event is held in the memory of Scott MacDonald, a Bonnyville Voyageurs player who passed away from cancer shortly after graduating.
Bonyville Bandits head coach Dan Jubinville says he is hoping for 3000 attendees, and to raise more than $20,000. All proceeds from the event will go to the Bonnyville Cancer Centre, and the Scott MacDonald Scholarship Fund, for graduating players attending post-secondary education, or pursuing further football opportunities.
