Lloydminster RCMP investigating buy and sell robbery

On Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, Lloydminster RCMP responded to a report of a robbery in the area of 80 Avenue, in Lloydminster.

Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that an individual was trying to sell their personal property. The potential buyer had deployed a substance that effected the seller before taking the property and fleeing. The victim received care and is uninjured.

RCMP made attempts to locate the suspect vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle, however they learned this vehicle was uninvolved.

Currently, there is no perceived risk to the community and this is believed to be a targeted situation, aiming to gain the property being sold.

This investigation is still ongoing.

Local police are also taking this time to remind you to be cautious when selling items online. Exchanging items in a public space with witnesses is ideal.

Making marketplace buy and sell exchanges in police detachment parking lots when dealing with valuables such as jewelry or electronics is not uncommon and recommended when possible. Taking this step can reduce your chances of being seriously hurt, injured, or having your items stolen from you.

Anyone with information in relation to this or any other crime, is asked to please contact the Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8300.

If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8377 (TIPS)
