Lloydminster will host the Esso Cup from April 20-26, and the call for volunteers for the hockey tournament is going out. The registration deadline is Saturday, Feb. 15.
The Lloydminster U18AAA PWM Steelers will host the tournament with all games slated for the Centennial Civic Centre. Five regional champions will contest Canada’s Women’s U18 National Club Championship.
Volunteers need to commit to a minimum of 4 shifts of 3-5 hours. However, you don’t have to volunteer for the whole event.
Volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas:
- Access Control Volunteers – to support security in things like checking accreditation
- Fan experience and community social impact – e.g. welcoming, hosting, and answering all questions to the best of their capability
- Merchandise sales – customer service focus, and comfortable using point-of-sale terminals
- 50/50 sales – selling of 50/50 tickets from the time the doors open until mid-2nd intermission
- Ushers and ticket scanners
- Game operations and ceremonies
- Hospitality
- Media services – support media workroom, press box, broadcast, mix zone, and statistics distribution
- Medical – includes doctors, orthopedic surgeons, dentists, and therapists. Medical roles report to the chief medical officer
- Off-ice officials
- Team services
- Team hosts – volunteers will be the main point of contact and provide support to their team from the time of arrival to the time of departure
- Transportation
- Volunteer operations – support delivery of the volunteer program for all event volunteers
