Edgerton breaking ground on new lagoon via Alberta-Federal funds

By September, the Village of Edgerton aims to have a new lagoon and force main up and running.

Mayor Kaylan White is inviting everyone to come to the groundbreaking ceremony on March 11 at the new lagoon site east of Edgerton on 54 Avenue beginning at 1:00 p.m.

“We are excited to move forward with this important infrastructure project. This is about building a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable future for everyone in Edgerton,” said White.

A combined municipal, provincial and federal funding of nearly $2.3 million is making the Edgerton wastewater facilities upgrade possible via the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership.

“By modernizing the wastewater system in the Village of Edgerton, we are investing to maintain a healthy environment for residents and provide the infrastructure needed to grow the communities,” stated Randy Boissonnault, Member of Parliament for Edmonton Centre, on behalf of Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, Federal Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities.

The project is already underway and officials see the “critical infrastructure investment” as enhancing “wastewater treatment capacity, reducing environmental impact, and meeting regulatory standards for water quality.”

The vision for the project also embraces support for “new housing developments, local businesses, and public facilities” going forward.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
