Futsal comes to town this weekend as Lakeland College in Lloydminster hosts the ACAC Futsal Championships, Mar. 7-9.
“It’s a faster paced sport. Soccer has a big field, bigger ball, and 11 people. Futsal is half the people, and the ball is way smaller and harder. So, it’s a lot faster,” says left-winger, Gracey Smithson,
The female Rustlers will see action against Medicine Hat on Friday from 1:00 p.m.
“It’s going to be really exciting. It’s going to be fun to play in that gym,” says defender, Madeline Russett.
The team expects to go all the way with some five games on the weekend and the finals on Sunday.

The male Rustlers are also in the hunt for championship honours in the home gym. They play Red Deer in their first game of the finals on Friday at 3:30 p.m. That schedule is also online.
Both men’s and women’s teams are third in the north standings for their respective divisions coming into the weekend ACAC showpiece.
