The City of Lloydminster wants people to apply to serve on the Municipal Policing Committee.
The volunteer roles require your input as the work of the committee will be a “direct link between the community and law enforcement.”
Tasks include:
- Overseeing the administration of the Municipal Police Service Agreement between the City and the RCMP
- Representing community concerns and interests to the head of the local RCMP
- Developing an annual plan of priorities and strategies for local policing initiatives
- Creating a Community Safety Plan, encouraging collaboration among community organizations and agencies
- Reporting annually to the Alberta Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services
“The committee aims to strengthen public safety and connections between residents, policing initiatives, and the local RCMP detachment,” notes the City.
Committee members will serve for two years and attend four to eight in-person meetings per year of between one to two hours duration.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, live in Lloydminster, and pass enhanced security, criminal record, and vulnerable sector checks.
Applications close Mar. 24.
Apply online or in-person at City Hall. More details are also online on the RCMP website.
