Provost RCMP Advise Armed and Dangerous Man Eluding Police

Last night at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Provost RCMP detachment received a report of a woman who had been forced at gun point to drive a man from Consort to Wainwright.

The woman had managed to flee the vehicle when it stopped at a gas station in Czar and police were contacted at that time.

The 31-year-old man, identified as Jason Masse, fled the station on foot and has eluded police, despite extensive efforts to locate him using the RCMP’s Police Dog Services, as well as utilizing additional members from surrounding detachments.

A sweep of the vehicle in which Masse was riding last night did not produce the handgun that he was alleged carrying. As such, police believe he may still be in possession of the handgun, and that he may be headed for the Edmonton area.

Masse is described as a 31-year-old white man, about 5’9″ and 190 lbs., with black hair, but his head is shaved, and brown eyes. Masse was last seen wearing a black hoodie with an orange Under Armor logo on it and blue jeans.

RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect. Police advise that should anyone see Jason Masse to call 911 immediately, and not approach him, as he is considered armed and dangers.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Provost RCMP at 780-753-2214 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
