Snowfall warning for Lloydminster

For Lloydminster, a long period of snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected, says Environment Canada.

Wintry weather returns to Alberta on Thursday, Mar 27. Expect winter travel conditions from tonight to Friday across central Alberta.

Storm snowfall totals will be 10 – 20 cm by Friday night, although some areas may receive locally as much as 30 cm.

Wind gusts are forecast at about 40 km/h. This will impact visibility. Monitor road conditions on 511 Alberta and the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline.

Precipitation will begin as rain this evening across central Alberta. Rain will change to wet snow, then snow overnight. The heaviest snowfall is forecast during the day Thursday. Light snow will continue through Friday.

There is a low certainty in the snowfall amounts. Warm temperatures ahead of this storm may lead to significant melting at the beginning of the event. Also, the snow may form in heavy bands, which could lead to high totals over some areas with less nearby. Snowfall warnings will be updated with new information as the event unfolds.
