Hillmond students to enjoy touring thespians

Hillmond Central School will get a visit from 25th Street Theatre as the group is touring Saskatchewan.

The talented theatre company will do a performance of Danielle Roy’s Luna at the school on Thursday, April 3 at 10:15 a.m.

Luna relates the adventure of a young girl who builds a time machine in her father’s garage. She goes back in time to unfreeze her mother. It’s a journey through memory and time that delivers a gentle message of love, loss, and acceptance to students, say the producers.

“I’m so honoured and feel very privileged to have this show back on the road so soon after its world premiere,” says playwright and director Danielle Roy.

The touring thespians will lead a workshop for the students in the afternoon before heading to their next school gig on Thursday. The workshops cover things like movement, storytelling and props as the theatre company seeks to share insights with upcoming artists.

“I think the tour has a huge impact especially for kids that haven’t seen a lot of theatre of this scope in their small town. Principals, teachers, and parents tell us these kids have never had anything like this. We are mentoring them in theatre,” says lead actor, Johanna Arnott, who plays Luna.

Once the provincial school tour wraps up, Luna will have three performances in Saskatoon on the BackStage Stage – Remai Arts Centre.
